SPEARMINT TASTE MASKING GRANULES
Mentha spicata. Is used as a flavouring in food and herbal teas. The aromatic oil, called oil of spearmint, is also used as a flavouring and sometimes as a scent. It is 30-100 cm tall, with variably hairless to hairy stems and foliage, and a wide-spreading fleshy underground rhizome from which it grows. Spearmint is a perennial herbaceous plant. The leaves are 5-9 cm long and 1.5-3 cm broad, with a serrated margin. Spearmint contains vitamins, antioxidants, and vital nutrients. Its aroma is very similar to that of peppermint. It contains less menthol than peppermint, but it is rich in limonene, dihydrocarvone, and cineol. It has a sweeter taste than peppermint. The chemical composition of the spearmint leaves was determined as follows: moisture, fiber, ash, protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
